The free multicultural festival Mano Mundo in Boom (really!) near Antwerp has become a classic over the years, attracting over 90.000 visitors the past weekend. Friday night was filled entirely by Designers against AIDS.
Kick-off was by Confituur All Stars, musicians from various wellknown Belgian bands who jammed and improvised to their heart's delight and whoturned the venue into a steaming party place! Next in line was Hotel Amigo, the band around singer/guitar player Jenne Decleir, who love laidback music (think reggae, ska...). Highlight of the night was DJ Buscemi feat. Squadra Bossa- more dance music, more sexy rhythms, more pleasure for your ears- no rest for the wicked! Over 4000 party people visited our night, not bad for a first time! Saturday and Sunday we spent at our DAA booth, talking with thousands of young people- photographing lots of them, plus some professional models courtesy of Dominique Models and Fashion Model 2009- in the new T-shirts from our second Fashion against AIDS campaign, that will launch worldwide in almost 1000 H&M stores on May 28th. We also did an interview on the main stage about our work, together with our video star and presenter André J and DJ Merdan Taplak and had major fun with our booth neighbours from Het Roze Huis (the pink house) who brought a giant pink condom with them, with which people could pose- as an award they received a free -and not so pink- condom.
We hope to be back next year and to see all of you there!
