At our second workshop, Leen and Patrick of Sensoa (a Flemish service and expertise center for safe sex) came to our office to tell us more about hiv/aids and to answer all our questions.
I really thought I knew a lot about aids, but seems there were some things I did not know. For example, did you know a mosquito needs to have the size of an elephant to have enough blood to infect a human being?
They also asked us to tell a secret, just to let us think about the fact that a lot of seropositive people still see hiv/aids as living with a secret and that it is not easy to tell the people around you.
I must say I learned a lot, how you can prevent hiv (wearing a condom is the most important prevention!) and how you can and cannot get it. If you want to know it too, so you always know you are acting in a safe way, read more here !
After a three hour meeting we knew we were now able to tell people about hiv/aids when they would ask us on the upcoming festivals. (But of course we are still learning about hiv/aids everyday.) So what's up next? Brainstorm for Mano Mundo with all the information given us and come up with a creative concept!
Keep an eye on this page to see the ideas we come up with!
