Burnt-out social worker Anne Colleen Simpson decides to leave the field on a high note, with a book detailing her career, but when Chee-Chee, a gifted twelve-year-old from the ‘projects’ collides into her life, she’s forced to confront his young mother and the shadows of her past.
On World AIDS Day, during the opening of the IHAEC, Ninette Murk, DAA founder, and Carsten Weise, our Project Manager, talk about HIV/AIDS.
Hey you! Are you a design fanatic, a scarves lover, a music addict? Or you just happen to live in Brussels?
We just received this image, made by Michael James O'Brien and Zoltan Gerliczki, of all the art works that were donated to us by talented photographers and contemporary artists and that were sold at the benefit auction at Campo & Campo in Antwerp last Friday.
A big thank you is in order for everybody who helped us make this event a big success!
The DAA booth at the Mano Mundo festival last weekend was a huge success, with hundreds of young people storming the booth wanting to customize their own T-shirt, write a safe sex message on the wall, speak out on video or have themselves covered in 'handle with care' tape- and sometimes doing all of it- in return for a couple of free condoms and eternal fame.

We asked all our visitors to write a speical safe sex message on our wall.
Recently we've seen a call to support DAA's activity in opening the International HIV/AIDS Awareness Education Center (IHAEC) in the E-Newsletter of the King Beaudoin Foundation, whose motto is 'Acting Together for a Better Society'.
The traveling exhibition 'Project White T-shirt', curated by 22-year-old Ritchie Chan and currently to be seen in Los Angeles at Space 15 Twenty gallery on 1520 N.Cahuenga Blvd, gives you a whole new idea about the plain white T.

Chan asked 31 designers from 13 countries to reinterpret a white T-shirt into something conceptual.

2010 is the 20th anniversary of Keith Haring's death from aids.
On January 22 and 23 the University of California Riverside is hosting an interesting conference about HIV/AIDS:

One of the most talented and original fashion designers coming out of the Antwerp Academy is Bernhard Willhelm, who graduated in 1998 and meanwhile celebrated his 10 year jubilee together with his business & design partner Jutta Kraus.
Until December 24th the unique Knitting against AIDS scarves are for sale again!
In our daily fashion lifes, where we care about what to wear, who's hot and what is not, we sometimes forget about things that really matter.
Luckly, organisations such as Designers Against AIDS remind us of that and that’s why -as a side project of Models Against AIDS- Dominique Models came in contact with the fantastic people of ‘La Maison Shalom’ in Burundi, Africa.
Would you like to support Designers against AIDS and at the same time participate to our new contest where you can win very special items? Here's your chance!
